Frogwares are best known for developing Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments, which our very own John-Paul Jones absolutely loved when he reviewed it back in 2014, but today they've revealed a new ”open-world investigation Lovecraftian” game called The Sinking City.
"It’s bigger than what we’ve ever made and we feel it’s the right next step for us, bringing the investigations to be free and opened in the city." said the developer on its website. ”We also believe that Lovecraft universe, Cthulhu Mythos is the right setting for the game.”
Frogwares are working on a sequel for Crimes and Punishments - Sherlock Holmes Devil's Daughter – too, although the developer was also working on a Call of Cthulhu game for Focus Home Interactive, which appears to be have been canceled as the publisher recently confirmed that a new Call of Cthulhu was in development by Cyanide studios. Either it was canceled, or Focus switched development teams, which perhaps resulted in the development of The Sinking City. It's all a bit confusing actually, but we'll try to get clarification soon.
The Sinking City doesn't have a release date yet, and platforms haven't been confirmed, but we expect it to be released for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 sometime in 2017.
