Have a bad internet connection? Good luck downloading Battlefield 1. EA have confirmed Battlefield 1 won’t ship with a disc, instead you will receive a download code in its place.
PC Gamer have confirmation from EA stating the North American release of Battlefield 1 will only be available digitally. “Here in North America, there will be a PC box version that you can buy in stores that will have a code in the box and no disc,” said the EA representative. “If you buy that same PC box version internationally, some countries will offer a disc inside.”
Diehard PC players looking to get the ‘exclusive collector’s edition’ of Battlefield 1 will have to purchase the console version of the game. EA are not releasing the Exclusive Collector’s Edition on PC, it will be available only on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. You should consider this a favour on EA’s behalf, I mean, what are you really going to do with a 14-inch statue of the guy on the box? You can use that extra money to purchase a season pass, if you really must buy something Battlefield related.
PC players tend to get the short end of the stick when it comes to retail releases of games. Last year, the retail release of Metal Gear Solid V included a disc with the game, however that disc did not contain the game on it. Instead, you could use the disc to access the 8.78MB folder with the Steam installer inside.
