If you’re aware of Pokémon GO (and lets face it, spend anytime on the internet and you probably are), you’re probably also aware that it can’t be played outside of mobile devices. Well, it couldn’t anyways. Thanks to some clever minds and a collection of the right tools, Pokémon GO can actually be within reach on your PC if you so desire.
This method was discovered and posted by Youtube user Travis D and is currently up to date as of today (12/7/2016). It involves several programs and utilizing them alongside some editing and rebooting. It’s a lengthy process, but the video below guides users through everything that they’ll need.
Simply put, the method involves downloading Pokémon GO to your PC via the Android store, using a program known as Bluestacks to emulate the program, and then using a fake GPS system to trick the program into thinking that you’re at a location other than your PC setup. If you would like to have a list handy as you go through the method, MSPowerUser has you covered with a step-by-step guide as well as a troubleshooting section if you happen to run into any issues. You can get your hands on each of the programs necessary to play Pokémon GO on your PC below.
-BLUESTACKS, an Android App emulator.
-Kingroot, root access tool for Android devices
-LuckyPatcher, used in the process to alter applications
-Fake GPS 4.6, for changing your location with the program
-Pokémon GO, presumably the reason you’re still reading this.
If all goes well, you should be playing Pokémon GO before too long on your PC platform of choice. It’s hard to say if it will be allowed to slide forever, but especially if you’re in a location that Pokémon GO hasn’t officially rolled out to yet, this is a solid opportunity to check out the sensation while it’s hot. Happy collecting!
