Echoes of the Living’s release date promises a dark survival horror romp inspired by genre classics, joining the ever-growing ranks of indie games that loudly declare their appreciation for fixed camera angles, tank controls, and urban settlements suffering unfortunate fates.
Published and developed by MoonGlint, a Spanish studio comprised of a young couple, the title takes us to a quiet European town in 1996, which finds itself suddenly covered in a mysterious fog that prompts the once-dead to walk its streets.
Echoes of the Living Release Date
Echoes of the Living is currently preparing to enter Steam Early Access at some point in 2025.

Echoes of the Living Gameplay
In terms of gameplay, the title revolves around two protagonists – police officer Laurel Reaves and ex-Special Forces member Liam Oakwood – whose lives get significantly more complicated once the fog rolls in.
When Echoes of the Living launches in early access, only Liam’s campaign – totalling to about 12 hours’ worth of playtime – will be available, with Laurel’s set to be released “in the next 4-6 months.”
Helping the two stay alive while fending off scores of undead also involves interacting with systems and mechanics that harken back to the survival horror genre’s early days.
Fixed camera angles are on the menu alongside limited inventory management and tank controls. If you’re keen about the first two but would prefer a more modern control scheme, that choice is also present.
Echoes of the Living also serves us its fair share of puzzles. Backtracking will also be required to push forward, while save rooms and item storage containers provide much-needed respite.
The roster of enemies we’ll face includes “bloodthirsty zombies, mutated fauna, [and] other nightmare fuel creatures” that aim to stop us in our tracks as we navigate fully 3D environments that take advantage of modern graphical capabilities while retaining a distinctly retro vibe.
Laurel and Liam have access to a “wide arsenal” of upgradable weapons and equipment to dispatch these foes, while mysterious unlockables wait to be discovered.
Echoes of the Living Price and Platforms
Echoes of the Living will first arrive on PC via Steam Early Access. Should it be well received, the developer is considering to also bring it to consoles in 2026. Its price tag hasn’t been revealed just yet, but we do know it will “increase a small bit” once it leaves early access.
