3D platformer aficionados have been obsessively awaiting the release of Yooka-Laylee to bring back the dormant genre, and given the pedigree of its developers that’s with good reason. But Ubisoft’s surprise release of Grow Home last lear presented a charming alternate take on the genre, and the follow-up to that delightful game is almost here.
Grow Up will hit in August, bringing with it a whole host of new abilities for our robotic buddy BUD to use as he explores a new open world to find the lost pieces of his spaceship. A new flying pal named POD will join you on the journey home, and a device will have you cloning unique plant species to grow your to the moon.
Grow Home channels the indie spirit, there are already tons of great independent games out there. We just happen to have a list of the best indie games on PC!
The original game was a terrific little platforming adventure with original climbing mechanics that gave your interactions with the world a very physical feel. Grow Up looks to be an equally fun follow-up, and the only question that remains is whether or not that fun will last through a lengthier, more fully-featured game.
Grow Up launches on PC and consoles August 16 in both North America and Europe.
