MercurySteam, creators of the Castlevania: Lord of Shadows trilogy, have announced their latest game: Raiders of the Broken Planet. This game is being self-published by MercurySteam, a first for the company.
Unlike MercurySteam’s previous games, Raiders of the Broken Planet is a multiplayer online asymmetric adventure. We don’t actually know what a multiplayer online asymmetric adventure is, and as there’s no video to accompany the press release, we’ll just have to wait until we see some footage of the game at a later date. We know the game will feature a blend of shooting, brawling and “thinking man’s strategy” (quoted directly from the press release). Judging by the screenshots, it looks like it will be a shooter.

The story component of the game will be broken down into episodes, each sold at an “extremely low and attractive price point”. A company spokesman from MercurySteam suggested that by breaking the game down into episodes, the developers will be able to incorporate player feedback to “create something that they can help shape too”.
Raiders of the Broken Planet is scheduled to release later this year on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
