I was not expecting to see a beautiful, fully-featured trailer for a game very much like Shadow of the Colossus today, but I am very glad I did. Prey for the Gods casts you as a lone hero taking on monsters of incredible size in a world full of mysteries. The developers have been working on the game since 2014, and are now looking to Kickstarter to bring the project home.
The developers list games like Deus Ex, DayZ, and Bloodborn as inspiration, along with the obvious core spark of Shadow of the Colossus. Battles should offer more variety and choice, giving you the chance to take them on directly or with stealth, using bows, swords, and grappling hooks–or even your bare hands–to take on the beasts.
There are tons of ambitious, interesting games due out this year. Check out our list of upcoming PC games!
The game is set in a frozen world with dynamic snow, and features what the developers are calling ”intense survival gameplay.” You’ll have to stay warm amid dynamic weather effects, and keep your quivers stocked and weapons in good repair. Along with all that, you’ll be able to explore mysterious ruins filled with secrets and treasure.
There’s no guarantee of the game’s final quality, but the trailer above is beautiful and the addition of survival gameplay seems like a smart way to fill out the world with more than just a number of boss fights. The Kickstarter campaign is currently just over $250,000 of a $300,000 goal with 17 days to go, and the developers hope to deliver a final game by the end of 2017.
