RuneScape has been one of those timeless games that will forever be played during ICT lessons at school. Can you believe it’s been fifteen years since the game launched back in 2001? The fact that the game is still running and being supported even now is seriously impressive. The three founders of the original RuneScape – Andrew, Paul and Ian Gower are coming back to the world they created to introduce a brand new quest.
Gower Quest is a free-to-play quest that takes players through cabbage fields and beyond. The press release makes this amazing claim: ”…as they (players) experience a tale that will warm the very cockles of their hearts.” If you guys want your heart’s cockles to be warmed, you are in for a treat!
Completing the quest will treat players to brand new rewards, including a brand new god sword, forged in the name of the cabbage god. Yes, you read that correctly: the cabbage god. God of Cabbage, Lord of Light, what’s the difference, really?
“Bringing back the three brothers to help design a celebratory quest was simply fantastic, and we’re already seeing players contact us saying how nostalgic and wonderful Gower Quest is for them,” said David Osborne, lead designer, RuneScape. “We’re grateful to Andrew, Paul, and Ian for returning to RuneScape for one more occasion and being guest designers on the quest. Fifteen years is a phenomenal milestone to reach, so few MMORPGs have ever reached it, and fewer still while experiencing a resurgence in player numbers!”
Get ready to experience this very strange, but fun quest in the world of Gielinor. Gower Quest was released on June 20th.
