If your VR dreams include playing collectable card games where your units come to life to attack the opponent on a three-dimensional playing field, then I’ve got good news for you: one such game is already on the way for Oculus.
Dragon Front, from High Voltage Software, is an online card battler combining “traditional high fantasy with a dieselpunk aesthetic.” A skill ranking system matches players against each other as their units are brought to life on a 3D battlefield. High powered champion units can be used to turn the tide of the battle as you attempt to climb to the top of the leaderboards.
Players will choose between an as-yet-undetailed number of faction that have unique card attributes, abilities, and strategies, and the game will feature 280 characters, 80 encampments, and over 100 spells.
High Voltage Software’s output has been up and down over the years, with dozens of licensed titles, the ambitious but flawed Conduit games on Wii, and a variety of ports ranging from the excellent to the messy. The final quality of Dragon Front is in no way guaranteed, but it’s a fun concept with nifty visuals.
Dragon Front is due out later this year, and is exclusive to Oculus.
