Square Enix have announced on Twitter that a new Tomb Raider game will be announced in 2018, and due out shortly afterwards. This may very well be the long-rumored Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and would nicely coincide with the new Lara Croft origin movie due in March.

There are no other details other than the game being a "new approach" to Lara Croft and that the game will be out soon after the announcement. A new game in the series called Shadow Of The Tomb Raider has been rumored for a while, and it probably won't be developed by Crystal Dynamics who have been handling the series since the Tomb Raider reboot in 2013. The Tomb Raider movie, based on that game, is due in March 2018, so this new game may tie in to that somehow.
We loved the last game Rise Of The Tomb Raider, with our reviewer Dustin Bailey calling it "Lara's greatest adventure yet" and "the best game to bear the Tomb Raider name, and the best action-adventure title I’ve played in ages." Unfortunately due to a bizarre licensing deal with Microsoft the game had a staggered release between platforms that undoubtedly cost it sales. Don't expect the new Tomb Raider to be a huge AAA action-adventure like the last one, we're saying.
We'll have more on this mysterious new Lara Croft Tomb Raider title when we get it.
