Strange Brigade was announced just before the E3 rush that's become the standard of the mid-summer gaming scene. Handled by Rebellion - of Sniper Elite fame - we're already seeing it in action.
Noticed and posted up by PC Invasion, Rebellion actually took the time to put a gameplay demo together for them to talk over during an E3 presentation. Focusing on the combat and class skills, it's looking pretty fun already.
Strange Brigade plays out in a third-person co-op style shoot em' up against some weird and wacky creatures straight out of a Lovecraft novel or your closest available book of the occult. What we can see here is that a shotgun is just as satisfying as ever, with the choice of character offering up different routes in each stage.
As you blast down enemies, you're changing up an amulet storing the power needed for you to unleash a deadly special attack - like a handy crowd-control ability or blast of magic. Certain overpowering situations might include environmental hazards that can be applied in your favour. In this case, shooting an orb sitting in the centre of a horde can dish massive damage to those around it.
Just like any good Indian Jones-styled adventure, taking too long to gawp at the treasure you loot means a good ol' fashioned ambush is likely headed your way. In this case - Egyptian assassins! 'Coming Soon' means we should be seeing this sometime this year.
