Through some striking - if not shocking - screenshots, we're learned a little more about Frostpunk - a game coming form the folks behind 'This War of Mine'.
We're not looking at any solid gameplay footage or explanations here, so all we can do is stare as some pretty screenshots and attempt to put two and two together.
Thankfully, Eurogamer have done that for us. Or at least decided to get the discussion started. Dialling in on the user interface present throughout the shots, they're come to the conclusion that letting the 'Discontent' bar deplete completely could make a nice game-over screen when we're talking about a city builder in a desolate land.
The other bar - Hope - is likely one you'll want to keep working on. A town with no hope is likely one that's doomed to fall into disarray and give up on life; thus feeding the discontent bar. Likewise, child labour is evidently present, and there's probably a strong likelihood this will result in some kids getting hurt. They're not ready for that kind of real-life torture. Similarly, experimenting on the sick and injured seems possible.
And while that certainly paints a grizzly picture, it might come with its own reward at the cost short-term cost of the population's happiness. If that's a tad too touchy of a subject, however, outlawing the practice will be one of your powers.
Again, we're not going to know much for certain until 11 bit Studios grants us the specifics. What we do know, however, is that it already looks gorgeous - in the darker term of the word. We're to expect it to launch later in the year.
