There are collabs, and then there is this new Sonic the Hedgehog and The Battle Cats team up. Which often defies description, in a very good way.
The Battle Cats is a hugely popular mobile title on iOS and Android that’s been around for ten years now, and offers simple but incredibly addictive strategy gameplay with a deeply challenging late game.
It, at a basic level, sees you put together a team of cats who have to fight in 2D arenas - with the main objective to destroy your opponent’s castle.
Sonic The Cat-hog?
So where does Sonic come into things, we hear you ask. Good question. This latest collaboration for The Battle Cats, running from the 4th to the 18th of August, sees an array of Sonic-related treats arriving for its millions of players.
One such addition to The Battle Cats app during the collab event is the range of maps based on memorable Sonic stages, including Green Hill Zone, Chemical Plant Zone, Sky Sanctuary, and Radical Highway. There’s the chance to nab extra rewards by clearing as many as you can of the 20 stages in the Radical Highway map as well.
As for new challenges, you can pit your team against players around the world via the Sonic Battle! dojo map at the Catclaw Dojo.
Anything else?
The most exciting part of this collab is the fact that you can employ Sonic and his friends in your army of cats though. Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, and Shadow are all present as Uber Rare heroes available to collect from a spin the Rare Capsules and ready to fight for you.
Even better is the fact that in addition to the four Uber Rares, there are Cat-ified versions of Sonic, Shadow and Tails to collect as well, and surprising evolutions for each character. The designs are quite brilliant, and unforgettable - you’ll definitely want to see each one.
