Battlefield 6 launched to considerably more acclaim than its predecessor, reaching some rather impressive concurrent player numbers, with developer Battlefield Studios actively addressing the shooter’s most pressing issues. The latest hotfix sets its sights on instances in which players dealt no damage when landing hits with visible blood splatters.
Amid a broader discussion regarding the game’s issues with hit registration and weapon bloom, making your enemy bleed only to realize that you’ve dealt no damage and likely kicked the bucket in the process is undoubtedly frustrating.
Battlefield 6 Hotfix Addresses Damage Registration Issues
As Principal Game Designer Florian Le Bihan explains on X, formerly Twitter, “the issue happened intermittently with certain weapons and attachments combinations and should now be resolved.”
Although this hotfix is a small piece of the broader puzzle, with more likely to follow over the next couple of days and weeks, it should hopefully translate into making Battlefield 6’s gunplay a bit more reliable.
Battlefield Studios also tweaked the out of bounds timer for vehicles on the Manhattan Bridge map, doubling it to 10 seconds, so that fewer helicopters end up destroyed before they have a chance to fully turn around and rejoin the fight.
As the developer focuses on making smaller tweaks, bigger complaints around time to kill, map size, and progression speeds will likely take longer to be addressed.
Nevertheless, the first-person shooter’s strong launch seems to suggest that, while some players find it a bit too close to Call of Duty in certain ways, Battlefield may well truly be back.
