StarRupture has launched into Steam Early Access to great success, and developer Creepy Jar is hitting the ground running with an ambitious 2026 roadmap. Player jumping in are already having a blast with the base-building and exploration, but certain in-game events can bring the grind to a halt. In this article, we’re telling you how to deal with infected bases and blue clouds.
StarRupture blue infection clouds explained
Though the timing on their appearance can vary in our (so far) limited experience, blue clouds and infected base cores are among the most recurring nuisances in StarRupture at the time of writing.
They’re linked to the bug-like aliens that regularly attack bases. If the bugs reach the central core of a base that’s largely unprotected, they can infect it. Soon, the infection (and thus a blue cloud) begins to cover the entire base, halting the production and even making the habitat unusable.
How to fix base cores and remove blue clouds in StarRupture
Thankfully, base-wide infections caused by alien attacks are easy to deal with, at least in the current build of the game.
If you see your based covered in the blue mist of doom, you’ll want to reach the base core as fast as possible and to look for a big light blue (brighter than the blue covering the buildings) blob/cyst of sorts. Destroy it and then approach the base core to press E and fully disinfect it. Gradually, that will bring all the other buildings back to normal.
Needless to say, make sure to look for stray alien vermin as you work on making the base’s automated defences better.
