Publisher Dotemu and developer Old Skull Games have unveiled Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster during today’s Warhammer Skulls 2026 showcase, giving us a brief glimpse at their upcoming 2D action platformer.
Deathmaster follows hooded ratman Vihneek, an ambitious Skaven killer who seeks to climb the secretive Clan Enshin’s hierarchy.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster Launches in 2027
A self-contained title with its story anchored in Age of Sigmar lore, Deathmaster brings guile and treachery to the forefront, giving us a rather personal look at what life as a Skaven entails.
According to the publisher, we’ll “set traps, exploit your surroundings and outwit enemies as you ruthlessly carve your fate through the darkest corners of the Skaven world.”
Stealth and cunning will likely play a role as well in seeing Vihneek’s goals fulfilled. The environments we’ll sneak, slash, and stab our way through in Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster’s are “beautifully twisted with relentless decay, accented with shadows and dark spaces prime for Vihneek to sneak through – and strike from.”
Deathmaster’s first trailer includes a few seconds worth of gameplay taken from an alpha build, revealing what seems to be a cel-shaded art style for its protagonist, who lunges at an unaware Skaven before brutally bashing their head with his shield.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster is set to release in 2027 on PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S.
