Homo Narrans Studio has announced that its upcoming point-and-click title, Casebook 1899 - The Leipzig Murders, is launching on PC September 4.
The game sees players put into the shoes of Detective Joseph Kreiser, and forced to investigate a string of four murders across the city of Leipzig in Germany. It’s up to you to uncover evidence, interrogate witnesses and suspects, and figure out precisely the culprit. However, it’s also possible to get the answer wrong and accidentally send the wrong person to prison.
Casebook 1899 - The Leipzig Murders was funded through Kickstarter, with backers pledging over $18,000 dollars to the solo-developed point and click from Gregor Muller, who has been working on the game for four years. A 45-minute demo, comprising the full first case, is available on PC, Mac, and Linux from Steam and itch.io.
It takes inspiration from retro pixel-based titles, with particular emphasis placed on Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Discworld Noir, and Tex Murphy: Overseer. The most modern game listed as an inspiration on the game’s Kickstarter page is L.A Noire from now-defunct developer Team Bondi.
