Alder’s Blood now has a release window, publisher Fat Dog Games and developer Shockwork Games announced today. The tactical stealth game is aiming for a Q3/Q4 2019 release on PC, through Steam, and Nintendo Switch.
In Alder’s Blood humanity finds itself in a bit of a pickle. Abandoned by their god, humans find themselves fighting hordes of monsters as they try to survive in a world “plunged into half-darkness and illuminated by the light of the moon”. While the scenario might seem common, the title goes for a rather unique mixture of elements when it comes to its world.
Alder's Blood Release Window
Alder’s Blood’s world is build on a mixture of Dark Victorian fantasy and the Wild West. Described as a place “shaped by struggle, where mankind has not had the freedom to develop or advance any of its technology”, players will roam it while taking control of a party of Hunters, elite monster slayers that represent humanity’s last hope of survival in the face of nature’s twisted onslaught.
Alder’s Blood will emphasize stealth and ambushes in its turn-based combat. On their own, Hunters will inevitably have trouble dealing with packs of beasts, which is why you’ll find yourself traveling in a party. Your characters’ energy levels must be carefully managed, as they’re used for attacking, moving and casting spells. Aside from your weapons, hunting tools and strange artifacts will be vital to survival.
The management in Alder’s Blood will also extend to the Hunters’ mobile base, which acts both as shelter, but can also be a target to enemy ambushes. The announcement trailer below lets us glimpse at what the game will offer, from its turn-based combat to base management and diplomacy. You can follow and wishlist Alder’s Blood on Steam.
