Upcoming sci-fi horror game Directive 8020 will benefit from both DLSS 4.5 and path tracing support when it launches in May, Nvidia has confirmed.
The title was revealed as part of a list of upcoming releases that will make use of Nvidia’s latest upscaling and visual technologies to provide a smoother, more immersive experience for owner of the company’s most recent video cards.
Directive 8020 DLSS 4.5 and Path Tracing Support Confirmed for Launch
“When Supermassive Games’ Directive 8020 launches on May 12th, it can be experienced in remarkable detail on GeForce RTX 50 Series systems,” reads a post on the official Nvidia website.
“Path-traced lighting and effects, enhanced by DLSS Ray Reconstruction will elevate image quality to new heights. And DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation will maximize performance.”
Aside from improved image quality, DLSS 4.5 uses Dynamic Multi Frame Generation to “intelligently adjust the number of generated frames during gameplay to reach a user’s desired frame rate, striking the perfect balance between frame rate, image quality and responsiveness.”
Its 6X mode promises better 4K frame rates when playing games that make use of path tracing, such as Directive 8020, according to the company.
A new trailer was also revealed, confirming Directive 8020’s DLSS 4.5 and path tracing support while highlighting the visual differences between playing with and without ray tracing. You can check it out for yourself below.
In case you’re unaware, Supermassive Games’ latest effort follows the crew of the colony ship Cassiopeia, who find themselves in a bind after crash landing on the planet Tau Ceti f.
Rather than deliver the hope for a new home they were searching for, as Earth is dying, the crew members find themselves hunted by an alien organism which mimics its prey.
Much like the developer’s previous output, Directive 8020 promises a cinematic horror experience in which the choices we make determine the fate of its characters.
The title is slated to launch on May 12, 2026, and is headed to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
