The sands shift yet again on Arrakis, as publisher and developer Funcom has revealed the first details regarding Dune: Awakening’s free Chapter 3 update, which revamps endgame progression, while also giving us a look at the building pieces and cosmetic items we can expect from the survival game’s paid Raiders of the Broken Lands DLC.
Dune: Awakening’s Chapter 3 update brings us “a redesigned Tier 6 experience with deeper choices and more meaningful ways to advance for PvE and other playstyles,” most of its improvements being directly inspired by feedback gathered from players.

Leading the list of changes is a rebuilt Landsraad system, which now comes with new replayable missions and rewards. Factions are set to receive new contracts, rewards, missions, as well as an extended standing/rank progression.
Dune: Awakening’s Chapter 3 update also tackles specialization progression, allowing us to choose between crafting, gathering, exploring, and combat as playstyles that we level while braving the planet’s harsh environments.
Five new open-area challenge locations are also on the way, boosting faction progress, influencing Landsraad control, and granting specialization experience.
Furthermore, late-game builds can be enhanced further thanks to the Augmentation Station, which adds “powerful augments that customize and strengthen your playstyle” to Tier 6 gear.
Dune: Awakening’s Chapter 3 update also introduces a new story chapter that sees us teaming up with “unexpected allies” while fighting through the Neo Carthag dueling ring and unraveling the “mystery of our origins.”
Its final additions include the dual-wielded knives and Pyrocket as new weapons, a rapier rework, alongside four smuggler vehicle variants and a variety of fixes.
Accompanying Dune: Awakening’s Chapter 3 update, the paid Raiders of the Broken Lands DLC promises 74 building pieces, 17 decorations, armors, and a stillsuit inspired by the Imperium’s Smugglers.
New weapons bearing the same theming, the Raider Buggy Variant, Smuggle Swatch, and two new emotes are also part of the DLC.
Dune: Awakening’s Chapter 3 update is free for all owners of the survival game. The Raiders of the Broken Lands DLC is part of the title’s Season Pass but can also be purchased individually for $9.99 or your regional equivalent.
There’s no word on when we can expect this new batch of content to drop, but a previous roadmap had it scheduled for Q1 2026.
