Funcom has released a new video for its upcoming open-world survival game, Dune: Awakening. The new deep dive explores the building system, allowing you to create refined bases on Arrakis.
Starting with a small base to protect against environmental hazards as well as human threats, Dune: Awakening’s building system allows you to expand into bigger buildings. Not only does this bring extra protection, but it also increases crafting options and other gameplay features.
Eventually, you’ll be able to build additional bases elsewhere to reap extra benefits. You’ll also be able to align with House Atreides or House Harkonnen, which brings new visual options for your base inspired by each house’s architectural style.
Check out the full gameplay demo of Dune: Awakening’s base-building systems below:
Dune: Awakening is based on the Dune movies, directed by Denis Villeneuve, which are themselves adaptations of Frank Herbert’s novel. It’s set in an alternative universe where Paul Atreides never existed, causing House Atreides and House Harkonnen to be embroiled in an endless civil war.
Your character is an agent working for the Bene Gesserit, tasked with finding the Fremen who have mysteriously gone missing and restoring peace to Arrakis.
Obviously, expect other key elements of the Dune series to be here, such as being able to pilot an ornithopter and avoid sandworm attacks.
Funcom will release Dune: Awakening for PC on June 10th, 2025. Console versions on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 are also planned, but concrete release dates have not been confirmed yet.
