Developer Firefly Studio announced its next project, Stronghold: Warlords, during the Kinda Funny Games Showcase that’s part of E3 2019.
Stronghold: Warlords will continue the series’ historical real-time strategy legacy, while moving the action all the way to the Far East. “From the 3rd century BC China through to the coming of the Mongol Empire in 1200 AD, Stronghold: Warlords allows players to relive famous historical battles and sieges against great khans, imperial warlords, and shogun commanders”, a press release reads.
Stronghold: Warlords Announcement
Scheduled to arrive on PC at some point in 2020, Stronghold: Warlords will add “a touch of grand strategy”, allowing players to recruit, upgrade and control AI warlords, each with their own unique perks and characteristics. “It’s a deceptively simple yet powerful change, perhaps the biggest we’ve made to the series since the original Stronghold Crusader.” said Lead Deisgner Simon Bradbury.
Alongside aiming to give players a taste of the castle economies of the Far East, Stronghold: Warlords will also let them lead “Mongol hordes, imperial warriors, tribal fighters and samurai clansmen” while sieging “Japanese castles and fortified Chinese cities”.
