Earth vs Mars, Relic Entertainment’s next turn-based strategy game, now has a demo that gives us our first opportunity to try our hand at fending off an alien invasion using the power of genetic engineering.
The Earth vs Mars demo includes three playable commanders who we can use across three tactical skirmish maps, intended as “a small introductory look” at what the game has to offer.

Each of the three commanders has two distinct abilities they can use to fight off the invaders. Annabel Corman heals damaged friendly units with her Field Medic ability. She can also drain her foes’ special ability meter and reset their cooldowns.
Colonel Marcus Shaw can spawn a tank at the HQ and an infantry unit in every city belonging to the player thanks to his Reinforcement ability, while also having the option of dealing a small amount of damage to visible opponents.
Eric Jones uses his Splice Boost to grant spliced units an extra 50% attacking and defensive strength. Bloodlust then allows infantry units that survive combat to gain health equal to the damage they dealt during the encounter.
Here is a breakdown of the three maps included in the Earth vs Mars demo, as shared by Relic:
- Downtown Showdown – tight, close quarters fight against the Martians and is an ideal introduction to the game.
- Independence Bay – is a combined-arms city-capturing clash over land and sea.
- Hazy Hills – a nighttime mission where enemies lurk in the Fog of War, ready to catch your soldiers unaware.
When it launches this summer on PC, Earth vs Mars promises a story campaign that spans more than 30 missions, nine commanders with 20 unique abilities, as well as the chance to play as The Martians, and more.
The Earth vs Mars demo is available now on Steam.
