Endless Legend 2 has been enjoying lots of success since it launched into early access back in September, but one of the biggest missing features was multiplayer. Now, right before 2025 ends, Amplitude Studios has dropped a substantial update that introduces the long-awaited mode.
Update #11 - The Gathering arrived on December 16, bringing not just multiplayer to Endless Legend 2, but also several tweaks and reworks (on top of tons of bug fixes) based on feedback that has been collected over the past few months.
It all comes as no surprise, as Amplitude Studios chose to first release Endless Legend 2 into Steam Early Access for this very reason. So far, this approach is paying off, with reviews currently sitting at “Very Positive” on the platform. Unless a big shift happens next year, it’s looking like Hooded Horse and the studio will have a winner in their hands once it hits 1.0.
Multiplayer has now left the beta branch, and players can just access it directly via the main menu. Of course, Amplitude is encouraging everyone to report problems and small bugs as they arise. With the Christmas break coming up, we’re not expecting more substantial patches until early-to-mid January.
We highly encourage Endless Legend 2 diehards to go through the full patch notes, as they’re rather massive, but here’s a quick rundown of other key features and changes which came with the eleventh major update:
- New construction flow to make district-building more intuitive.
- Retake of the Necrophage economy to improve the species’ differences from other factions.
- Pacification quest flow rework to streamline the process of receiving the information and completing these missions.
- Temporary treaties & compliments/warnings to spice up the diplomacy system and make it more engaging.
- Game speeds: Fast (200 turn limit), Normal (275 turn limit), Slow (350 turn limit), and Endless (400 turn limit).
- Aspects improvements: The faction is becoming more distinct and fun to play.
- Adjustments to heroes and skills: Making them more useful in the late game and as the heroes level up and grab better items.
- World generation is also seeing changes, with territory size increasing by 30% and major factions now spawning farther apart on Continent and Pangea maps.
