Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream is a stealth adventure you won’t have much trouble beating as long as you pay attention to your surroundings across its eight chapters, but if you’re feeling stuck and need a crutch in the shape of cheats, commands, or tips for beginners, we’ve got you covered.
Here you’ll find our favorite Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream cheats and console commands that we’ve found so far, as well as the most useful tips we have for beginners and clumsy thieves.
Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream cheats and console commands
We don’t have any Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream cheats and console commands to share yet. We’re, however, expecting to have at the very least UE5-specific unlockers which allow players to tinker with the camera and in-game visual features, which should be super useful in this top-down video game to better appreciate the finer details of the models and the jaw-dropping levels.
Cheat Engine-based cheat mods and tables should also be a thing sooner rather than later, as players have been eagerly awaiting this release and we’re predicting a fair amount of buzz around the game. Stay tuned for updates.
Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream tips for beginners
Eriksholm is a straightforward and mostly linear stealth game, so getting lost is practically impossible, but some sections will be trickier to navigate than others. Also, in our experience, it’s not very hard to miss key visual cues or tips. Plus, there’s a handful of recommendations we can make after beating the adventure.
Our best Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream beginner tips assume that you know the basics and have at least completed Chapter 1, which is an easy tutorial that introduces Hanna, the protagonist, and the titular city through the poorer district where she lives.
Change the camera angle often
This might be sound like a no-brainer, but since the game does a good job of choosing good camera angles for each level after most cutscenes, you’ll often find yourself only moving the camera (while restricted to an isometric view, of course) when circling around a building or obscured interior.
In many scenarios, we found ourselves struggling with the timing or right position to get past enemies only to later find out a piece of the environment we could interact with or a perfect hiding spot we hadn’t seen until we moved the camera just a bit. So, as a rule of thumb, push the right joystick (or the mouse) so the camera spins around every time you’re in a big open zone.
Get rid of as many light sources as you can with Alva
Eriksholm takes a while to fully pop off, but around the halfway point you’ll be joined by two characters, starting with Alva, a master thief with a couple of unique abilities and zero ways to take down enemies. She’s the key character when it comes to creating distractions and making navigation of the environments easier for the group though.
During the first section in which you take control of her, the slingshot is introduced and you realize you can take out light sources to create both distractions and permanent shadowed areas where the playable characters are essentially invisible. After a while, and unless a bark gives you a clue, you might forget about that ability, and some later levels are impossible to complete unless you get Alva to spots where she can take out lights to create safe pathways for the gang. Make a habit of looking for lamps and breaking them with stones!
Hanna can only get away with darting enemies from behind
The game underlines the importance of using sleeping darts on enemies from behind and while ducking behind cover yourself, as they’ll instantly start looking for the attacker for a few seconds before falling to the ground. But “behind” strictly means behind. Even if you ‘dart’ them from a side position, it’s very likely you’ll get caught before you can land the shot or they fall unconscious. These enemies aren’t myopic like in other stealth titles.
There are exceptions to this rule though. In some instances, we’ve found the game’s complex geometry allowed us to dart guards that should’ve caught us under normal circumstances, potentially ‘breaking’ the game’s otherwise rigid structure and approach to solving the puzzle-like encounters. That said, it’s all built in a very specific way, so these attempts will likely end in failure.
Some encounters are all about timed actions
While much of Eriksholm can be played in an almost turn-based fashion, triggering a sequence of actions as you swap between characters and shuffle them around, some of the late enemy encounters require a small degree of real-time skills.
Very often, this comes down to Hanna and Sebastian taking down bigger guards together, but other sequences require Alva to distract enemies at the perfect time to create openings for the two characters with ‘knockout’ abilities. Study your foes and their patrols before attempting such maneuvers, but don’t be surprised if you have to reload a few times until you get it right. When in doubt and out of options through regular play, try to use the characters in tandem to create opportunities.
Getting the 100% on your first run is remarkably easy
After only 9 hours of play time, I was able to obtain 41 out of 45 achievements without even trying and came very close to getting the collectible ones (notes and true collectibles). Even the most sprawling maps in Eriksholm aren’t overly complex or super huge, so make sure to check every corner and walk down every open path before advancing to the next area if you’re chasing 100% completion. (You can also just replay Chapters from the main menu, but some of them are quite long, so it can get annoying if you have missed items found in the later stages of a mission.)
Outside of collectibles, every achievement should unlock as you make normal progress through the game. The exception seems to be one achievement that requires shooting at a poster of Eriksholm’s mayor with one of Hanna’s darts. Keep an eye out for those. Otherwise, this game’s extremely easy to fully clear.
