Steel Division 2 promises to do all those things that made Steel Division: Normandy 44 as good as it was, except they want to do more, and then add some goodies on top of it. Described as 'a passion project' for the developers at Eugen Systems, Steel Division II is set to innovate as much as it ought to iterate.
Steel Division 2 is going to be set during the Soviet counter-attack in the summer of '44, and is planned to feature 'Dynamic Strategic Campaigns', which sounds pretty fancy. Of course, here also come in the 10v10 multiplayer battles, with hundreds of brand new, historically-authentic units to employ.
The so-called Dynamic Strategic Campaigns are supposed to offer highly-replayable experiences realised on a 1:1 scale, and with each turn equaling about 12 hours of passing time. This, combined with a more realistic art style, is supposed to push the game to be even more interesting and engaging.
Steel Division 2 will be set in the Eastern Front, with players having the chance to control over 600 new units spread across 18 divisions, from both of the competing sides. In regard to this, combat has been thoroughly revamped, though there have been no further details on how exactly that might be the case.
In general, the details are pretty scarce at the moment, but that is to be expected when a game's only just been announced. Eugen will have a playable build ready for Gamescom 2018 - a hands-off press-oriented one, so expect more information by then.
