Publisher Curve Games and developer IronOak Games have unveiled For the King 2’s 2026 roadmap, detailing the free and paid content that is coming to the turn-based roguelite RPG throughout the first half of the year.
Some highlights include a manual save system, as well as the return of the Dungeon Crawl: Gauntlet mode – both available as part of free updates – alongside the Into the Wild paid DLC, which introduces two new characters.
For the King 2 2026 Roadmap
For the King II’s 2026 roadmap kicks off in Q1 2026 with a series of smaller updates that introduce elemental orb weapons, two free Horse Head cosmetics celebrating the Year of the Horse, as well as a new manual save system.
Available on Apprentice and Journeyman modes, For the King 2’s manual save system aims to “help alleviate some of the pressure players felt when exploring Fahrul,” largely due to the game’s reliance on permadeath mechanics and the odd misclick that killed a party member or two.
Q2 2026 is a significant stop on For the King II’s 2026 roadmap, bringing us its third major content update. The Dungeon Crawl: Gauntlet mode “tasks players with exploring the depths of Fahrul in a free-form adventure by journeying into multiple dungeons across a randomized map, featuring new bosses, biomes, and a healthy mix of familiar faces,” according to the publisher.
It also supports a monthly leaderboard, as well as a static monthly map seed for more competitively-minded players.
The Treasure Hunter is also making its return as a playable character during Q2 2026, bringing us shotguns as a new weapon type. Wrapping up For the King II’s third major content update, we have the Forest Mystic Cat cosmetic item.
At some point during the first half of 2026, the Into the Wild paid DLC will also release, adding two brand new playable characters, which bump up the total amount available in the sequel to a whopping 23. The DLC also includes new cosmetics, weapons, a fresh trait, and more.
For the King II is available now on PC, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
