Fantasy sandbox MMORPG Albion Online is finally coming to consoles next month. Sandbox Interactive has just announced it’s set to drop on Xbox Series X/S with a new trailer.
First released in 2017, the free-to-play MMO soon developed a dedicated community on PC (Windows, macOS, and Linux) before making the jump to iOS and Android systems as well. Now, Sandbox Interactive is promising a “fully optimised” Xbox release “with a brand-new UI navigation flow, a dedicated controller scheme, and specifically adapted key screens.” Moreover, combat has been overhauled to play better on controllers.
Albion Online will welcome Xbox Series X/S players starting April 21, 2026. Meanwhile, you can watch the inventive announcement trailer below:
Veteran players will also be happy to learn that Albion Online on Xbox will fully support cross-play and cross-progression; everyone is playing together and using the same account system. This might sound common in 2026, but you’d be surprised by the amount of massive MMORPGs with console ports which are still missing such features.
Ahead of the game’s debut on current-gen Xbox consoles, the Radiant Wilds update will introduce “a full visual upgrade” on April 13. It also adds boosts to the game’s graphical performance, controller support (no matter what platform you’re on), and a new PvP mode.
Albion Online is defined by its player-driven economy, classless combat system, and housing and farming systems. While it’s traditionally been welcoming to all kinds of players, the focus on a big fantasy life sim experience of sorts has made it enduring and special in the long run.
