Horizon Steel Frontiers is an upcoming MMORPG based on Guerilla Games’ popular universe, whose announcement took everyone by surprise. Since the mainline entries in the series have, so far, remained single-player, the prospect of exploring its world alongside others likely has you wondering if Horizon Steel Frontiers is going to be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The MMORPG puts us in the role of machine hunters exploring the Deadlands – a region inspired by Arizona and New Mexico. Enabling both cooperation and competition, the title throws us into battle against the franchise’s iconic robotic monsters.
Horizon Steel Frontiers PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Release
During Horizon Steel Frontiers’ reveal, we learned that the MMORPG is developed “specifically for mobile” and will also release on PC. At the moment, it doesn’t seem like a potential PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release is planned.
- Horizon Steel Frontiers PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release: To be confirmed
Horizon Steel Frontiers not releasing on the Xbox Series X/S isn’t necessarily surprising, as the franchise has, so far, not made its way to Microsoft’s consoles.
The lack of a PS5 version, however, leaves many fans scratching their heads, since you would expect a series that started as a PlayStation-exclusive to bring its entries to Sony’s current-gen console.
As disappointing as this might be, we cannot completely rule out the possibility of Horizon Steel Frontiers releasing on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S in the future.
Unless these versions are in development but kept under wraps for the time being, this might, however, only happen after the game debuts on PC and mobile.
What’s certain at the moment is that both PlayStation and Xbox fans looking to experience the first MMORPG in the Horizon universe have to turn to either PC or mobile to do so when it launches.
That is what we know so far about whether or not Horizon Steel Frontiers is going to release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
