Hunt: Showdown has carved a niche for itself as a hardcore PvPvE shooter that demands a lot from players but rewards those who are in it for the long run. Given its multiplayer focus, you may be wondering whether or not crossplay counts among its available features.
Hunt: Showdown shines when your team is working together to complete objective and wipe out competitors. Cross-platform support would allow for a bigger pool of players to draw from when matchmaking, resulting in shorter queue times. Unfortunately, the situation around it is a bit complicated.
Hunt: Showdown Crossplay
We'll start with PC, where things are quite simple. If that's your platform of choice for playing Hunt: Showdown, crossplay isn't available to you. There is currently no way to play with or against console players, which isn't all that surprising.
The high-stakes gameplay means that any potential advantage can make the difference between winning or losing a fight. The mouse and keyboard tend to allow for quicker responses when compared to gamepads in first-person shooters, which would likely give PC players a bit of an unfair advantage.
- Hunt: Showdown crossplay status: Not available on PC; Available on consoles but does not support cross-platform invites
Console players do get Hunt: Showdown cross-platform support, only with a catch. While Xbox and PlayStation users can end up in the same matchmaking pool, they cannot party up with players on a different platform.
It's not exactly ideal, but that's how things are looking at the moment. Whether or not they'll change in the future remains to be seen.
