Is Slay the Spire 2 coming to Xbox and are there any console release plans for it? The short answer is not yet as the highly anticipated sequel to 2019’s deckbuilding roguelite sensation will likely take a similar route to its predecessor. This essentially means that, before coming to Xbox, Slay the Spire 2 will first finish its stint in Steam Early Access on PC, incorporating any player feedback obtained along the way.
The original also took the early access route, only arriving on Xbox consoles months after its full PC release, so at least there is precedent for the series launching on Microsoft’s consoles.
Slay the Spire 2 Xbox Release
Revealed during 2024’s The Game Awards, Slay the Spire 2 entered Steam Early Access on PC on March 5, 2026, seeing hundreds of thousands of players flocking to its colorful brand on deckbuilding roguelike shenanigans.
As per its Steam page, developer Mega Crit expects the sequel’s early access stint to fall in the “same 1 - 2 year range” as its predecessor, which makes it unlikely that Slay the Spire 2 will arrive on Xbox before 2027 at the earliest.

A series of developer comments, handily gathered in a document by Reddit user BreaddyyMM2 confirm Mega Crit’s intention to eventually turn its sequel into a multiplatform title.
“More realistically, we’re targeting Steam for Early Access and then major consoles + mobile for Full Release,” the developer responded when asked whether or not the game is headed to other platforms.
“However, some of this could change due to how long we may be in Early Access, general demand, certification processes, how much Deadlock we play each night, what our workload looks like, and other unforeseen circumstances.”
In a different reply, this time asking about whether or not Slay the Spire 2 could release on old-gen consoles like the Xbox One, the developer answered with “probably,” adding that the team will “ask Microsoft to see if it’s worth but i don’t see why not.”
The latter is less of a commitment than the former, but, unless something seriously affects the developer’s plans, it does seem like Slay the Spire 2 will eventually release on Xbox consoles.
