Journey is, by popular regard, one of the most unique and beautiful games ever made, what with its striking visuals and an unexpected multiplayer component. With it finally launching on Epic Games Store recently, people flocked out to get it, but problems abound.
According to fans, even computers that are way more powerful than what recommended system requirements note are experiencing severe Journey lag spikes, which makes the game borderline unplayable.
How to fix lag in Journey?
As the video featured at the bottom of this article will attest, Journey's port doesn't seem to be all that well-built or optimised as it stands. With the recommended specs sitting at your garden-variety Intel i3 processor and an ancient Nvidia GTS 450, it's odd for people with modern computers to be encountering such severe FPS drops across the board.
As it stands it seems only Nvidia cards are affected, to boot, but what's most confounding is the fact that disabling the game's internet connectivity feature seems to fix the problem right away. In this case, this is not something you might want to opt for, as the game's multiplayer does add a lot to the general playing experience.
While it's great that Journey is finally playable on PC, it's sad to see it being a potentially shoddy port. Perhaps the developers will resolve this issue with future patches. One can hope, at least.
