Jurassic World Evolution 3 is a massive park sim and easily the ultimate Jurassic Park game, but Frontier Developments plans to make it even bigger and deeper with regular content updates and many substantial tweaks. Here’s what’s coming next with the 1.2 update and when you can expect to download and play it.
Though the park management threequel is regularly getting fixes through smaller patches, Frontier likes to drop content updates at no extra cost which often come alongside paid DLCs. We’ve yet to learn about plans for the latter, but we already know the rollout plans and details of Update 1.2, which is the second free update set to hit Jurassic World Evolution 3.
Jurassic World Evolution 3 Update 1.2 Release Date
It wasn’t long after Update 1.1 that Frontier revealed through a Steam post the date that we’d be enjoying a new and bigger patch in the form of Update 1.2:
- Update 1.2 for Jurassic World Evolution 3 will release on December 9, 2025, for PC, PS5 & Xbox Series X/S.
Jurassic World Evolution 3 Update 1.2 Content
Players can watch the three-minute ‘Update 1.2 Highlights’ video below to get the full picture of what to expect from the upcoming patch plus a cheeky tease of a new dinosaur that’s coming at no extra cost to the game, but scroll down below for a full written rundown if you’d prefer that.
-
Cypress Swamp Brush: A new environment brush will allow park managers to quickly “paint” cypress trees and swampy ambiance as long as you stick to the Tropical and Temperate biomes. Of course, new individual scenery bits and pieces will allow further tinkering with the new trees and vegetation additions.
-
Better Island Generator: After getting access to custom Tropical islands at launch, players are now getting Desert, Temperate, and Mediterranean biomes for the generator too. A new slider also will also let us control the amount of beaches (and how wide they are). Plus, the terrain and buildings can be altered near the water’s edge after this patch drops.
-
Better User Experience and Menus: These additions aren’t exactly new content, but they’re improvements big enough to be listed here. A new blueprints menu provides better access to all the downloaded user-made content, and the “copy path style” option makes the customization of every pathway much easier and quicker. Last but not least, a new ‘obstructions’ heatmap will let us check which parts and sections of our parks need tweaking to let people and animals (as well as vehicles) navigate freely.
Expect one or two more content reveals as we approach the Update 1.2’s launch, and make sure to place your bets now on the identity of the mystery new dinosaur.
