Following the formation of Ubisoft’s subsidiary Vantage Studios to oversee the Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry IPs, we’ve learned about Marc-Alexis Côté departing the company, which sparked rumors that Massive Entertainment vet Julian Gerighty would be leaving too. But that doesn’t appear to be true.
Massive’s own X/Twitter account shot down the rumors, stating Gerighty ain’t going anywhere. In fact, the studio also took this opportunity to promise updates on The Division Resurgence (mobile), the surprise Survivors expansion coming to The Division 2, and The Division 3, which has now been in development for quite some time.
The official account for the series also shared a piece of concept art which teases a darker winter setting for the Washington DC setting The Division 2 is known for in the Survivors expansion. You can see it below too:
So far, we know Survivors will focus on putting a new twist on the extraction shooter formula, which isn’t entirely new for The Division, as the two entries so far have toyed with extraction experiences across different modes. Survivors, however, will be an “updated take” with more resources behind it.
Earlier this year, The Division 2 also received the Battle for Brooklyn DLC, which marked yet another return to the OG New York setting after Warlords of NY. Needless to say, this franchise is a key one for Ubisoft moving forward, and while it’s not part of the Vantage Studios subsidiary like R6, it appears plans around it are substantial for the foreseeable.
