Pirate PvE survival game Windrose has sailed past 100,000 concurrent players on Steam, claiming its place among the most popular games on the storefront at the moment.
According to SteamDB, Steam’s most recent piratey PvE survival hit reached a concurrent player count of 113,930 on April 16, only two days after entering Steam Early Access.

On the same day, publisher and developer Kraken Express also confirmed that Windrose had surpassed 500,000 copies sold.
“Ahoy, captains! While we’re working on the next hotfix update (expected to come this Friday), let us take a short break and thank YOU for this milestone: over 500,000 Windrose copies sold just in 48 hours since launch,” it wrote in a Steam post in which it also thanks the community for its enthusiasm and dedication.
Windrose’s Steam concurrent player count has, as expected, dipped since reaching that peak. At the time of writing, the title still has a respectable number of 49,000 pirates sailing its open seas in search of treasure.
Aside from claiming riches while facing challenging foes in what it describes as “soulslite combat”, the title also features resource gathering and building components, the latter letting the most dedicated pirates construct actual forts.
Windrose’s naval component sets it apart from its survival crafting peers. Aside from its exploration aspect, it also involves ship battles that let us both engage enemies at range and up close by boarding their vessels.
Whether or not Windrose’s Steam concurrent player count will remain stable or increase in the future depends on how quickly developer Kraken Express’ delivers additional meaningful updates.
