Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is set to release really, really soon, and though its exclusive nature is sure to put some of us off, it's more of the Witcher, after all, and that's hard to argue against.
The latest trailer for Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales showcases some of the actual gameplay, which is a most welcome change of pace, and highlights the fact that Thronebreaker is a fully-fledged RPG, rather than a simple singleplayer campaign for Gwent.
While the game's combat sequences will be handled by the well-known and much-touted Gwent mechanics (likely tweaked a tad), the rest of Thronebreaker will play much as you'd expect from a classic RPG title. Providing an isometric overview of the playable area, the game will have players control the protagonist as she scours the level for interactive objects and NPCs.
Interestingly, it would seem that Thronebreaker won't shy away from boss encounters, either, as certain scenes feature huge, multi-card creatures very prominently. If cards are anything to go by, players will have to target particular parts of said monsters to try and chip away at them, much as a Witcher would.
Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is slated to come out on the 23rd of October on PC, exclusively via GOG.com for €25.89. Check out the latest gameplay trailer down below.
