Prison Architect 2 is set to receive another closed beta test next week, giving a limited number of lucky participants the chance to try out the 3D-infused prison management sequel and provide feedback.
Prison Architect 2’s April 2026 closed beta test is yet another sign that development is picking up, after the title ended a rather lengthy period of silence with a similar test earlier in January.
Prison Architect 2 Gets April Closed Beta Test
Publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Kokku haven’t shared details about the specific state of the build included in April’s closed beta test when announcing it, but have confirmed that it will kick off on April 14.
A sign-up sheet is available until April 12 for anyone willing to try their luck at getting in.
The test is subject to a non-disclosure agreement, so those of us who aren’t lucky enough to make it in will sadly not get to learn how Prison Architect 2 is shaping up.
The sequel has had a fairly bumpy road so far. Its shift to 3D left a part of its fanbase scratching their heads.
Paradox parted ways with original developer Double Eleven in May 2024, before handing the project over to Kokku. Months later, in August 2024, the sequel was indefinitely delayed.
Prison Architect 2’s April 2026 closed beta test hopefully signals that things are moving in the right direction, and an open test or public reveal of the project’s current state isn’t too far off.
