Remedy’s multiplayer Control spin-off, FBC: Firebreak, has received a hefty discount following a mixed reception and disappointing sales in 2025.
The game’s price has been slashed by 60% on Steam, making it just £13.19 for the Standard Edition, and £16.38 for the Deluxe Edition.
FBC: Firebreak sees players return to the extradimensional headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control to tackle the otherworldly forces that have it under siege. As the specialist Firebreak team, players use their unique skills to fix areas of the facility and blast the weirdo Hiss monsters saturating the place.
FBC: Firebreak Price Doused After Shallow Sales
The co-op FPS debuted last summer, and the promise of a Remedy spin on the Left 4 Dead formula was initially intriguing. But Remedy’s games haven’t exactly been sales juggernauts in the past, so a multiplayer title was always a risk.
A muted critical and player reception certainly didn’t help matters, and a PS Plus launch release may have increased the potential player count, but it had little impact on the game’s sales.
The aftermath of FBC: Firebreak’s underperformance saw the company readjust its FY25 outlook, and subsequently, Remedy CEO Tero Virtala stepped down, with Remedy co-founder Markus Mäki taking over in the interim.
Remedy will return to its single-player strengths with Control: Resonant, revealed last month, while the developer is also currently remaking the first two Max Payne games.
