Interested in taking a walk in the woods that’s a little more dangerous than usual? Then maybe take a look at In Woods, a game of action and upgrades, where you fight the wildlife in the heart of a magical forest.
In Woods is a top-down roguelike action RPG, where your goal is to try and survive waves of enemies for as long as you possibly can, and there are a lot of enemies to deal with, from snakes to slimes to wild beasts.
Some will slide slowly towards you, some break into an erratic charge, and you’ll need to manage this chaos to win.
Fortunately, you have plenty of tools to assist you in the heat of battle. As you progress, you’ll level up and get chances to pick a new upgrade from three options.
These you’ll carry for the rest of the run. These might be new weapons, stat boosts, or passive abilities. Sometimes, it’s a combination of more than one of these.
Get Crafty
If you’re into roguelikes, you might know the drill with level buffs, though there are a few other surprises.
In Woods comes with crafting mechanics, where you can turn resources you find into useful items that might help you weather the onslaught. Swiping at the trees isn’t just a waste of time. In fact, it might save your life.
There’s partial controller support, so you’re not reliant on keyboard and mouse.
Last long enough, and you’ll get to take on the final boss. If you meet the criteria, you can unlock new characters, each of whom bring their own specializations to the table.
