Sintopia is one of the most delicious management sims we’ve tasted this year, and after scrapping its Steam Early Access launch in favor of a full launch in 2026, developer Piraknights Games is teasing a November playtest.
The news dropped on October 29 via a Steam blog post alongside a new look at the content for the full release the team is currently working on. Before getting into all the details, however, the devs once again acknowledged how “disappointing” it was to skip the early access launch, but considering it was done on the heels of glowing player feedback after demos and previews, it’s a positive change if you ask us.
About the upcoming November 28 playtest, which will run for 4 days, the studio said the following:
“The demo has done a wonderful job so far, but we want to provide a new way of gathering player feedback which does not have an in-game limitation. Here comes the playtest: a fresh build with new features, playable in full, without a built-in limit. Besides being able to play past day 12, you will find new Hell Buildings, a new Spell, a new Role Model and a lot more exciting stuff (stay tuned for more details). We will also provide unlimited Prestige Points so you can experiment with Boons without the need to farm.”
The previous demo is no longer available, as it’s no longer representative of where the game is at right now. The same can be said about the key art, which has been updated ahead of the playtest:
You can also get an extensive look at new buildings, stats, environmental upgrades, and whatnot in the full post, but we’ve collected the key details here if you’re short on time:
- Waiting Booth 3000: An automated booth which “processes Souls very quickly” and doesn’t require a Secretarimp Imployee. This is the first upgraded building revealed.
- Oulala Dreams Studio: An adult film studio in Hell which “uploads” dreams to sleeping Humus and is used to increase or decrease birth rate.
- Weather updates: Rain and fog are coming to the game. No major impact on gameplay… beyond rain helping extinguish fires faster.
- Administrators Museum: A new break room that looks better and can house up to 10 Imployees. It includes new lore too.
- Guaca Warlords: A new type of Guaca enemy with lots of HP who can charge troops. They only appear from mid-game onwards.
- Hell Mood Variations: The team is now exploring Hell layer variations which affect the overall mood and visuals. Only in the concept art stage for now.
- Impo Bong Club break room: The nicest facility for the Imployees; it’s a casino where they can also earn Purgadollars.
- Stats everywhere: Following management sim lovers’ feedback, more stats submenus are being added.
- Sinchrotron Facility: A Sin-Management building that allows you to “lock specific Sins to a Soul” so it doesn’t change again. Since Sins are at the core of the game’s loop, this adds more management possibilities which can reshape entire runs.
