Publisher Slitherine is celebrating its 25th anniversary through a livestream scheduled to air on July 9. The event will see key members of the company discussing its beginnings, finding success in the changing market of the present, as well as its future projects and plans, one of which is a “a brand new game for true strategy fans.“
A Steam publisher sale will follow between July 10 and July 17, slashing the prices of games across the company’s whole catalog by up to 80%. Terminator: Dark Fate - Defiance and Starship Troopers: Terran Command count among the titles we can pick up at a cheaper price. Furthermore, Panzer Corps 2 and all its DLC will be discounted on July 11, when fans of the series celebrate Panzer Corps Day.
Slitherine 25th Anniversary Celebrations
Slitherine’s 25th anniversary celebrations also promise free games thanks to a total of three planned giveaways.
The rather excellent Battlestar Galactica Deadlock is the first game that we can claim at no cost. Joining it are Fantasy General II and Field of Glory II: Medieval, making for a varied selection of free to keep games that cover sci-fi, fantasy, and historical flavors of strategy.
“Today we celebrate 25 years of Slitherine. I’m incredibly proud of our history, of what we’ve achieved in the world of strategy videogames, and of the trust we’ve earned from millions of fans who continue to support this enduring niche,” said CEO Iain McNeil.
“The team has grown exponentially over the last two decades—from just a few dozen people to more than a hundred—with offices in London, Milan, and Warsaw, and collaborators across the globe. We firmly believe that our people and our company values are the true secret behind Slitherine’s success.”
Founded in 2000, by JD McNeil and Iain McNeil, Slitherine saw its first major success with 2002’s Legion, a turn-based strategy set in ancient Rome. It continued to serve fans of the strategy and wargaming niches, which led to it merging with Matrix Games in 2010.
As the years passed, the publisher collaborated with major licensors, resulting in the release of multiple games based on popular IPs, including Battlestar Galactica, Terminator, and Warhammer 40,000. Most recently, the large-scale real-time tactics game Broken Arrow made a significant splash on Steam.
You can watch Slitherine’s 25th Anniversary Opening Ceremony tomorrow, July 9, over on its Twitch channel.
