Publisher Coffee Stain Publishing and developer Lavapotion have announced that fantasy turn-based strategy game Songs of Conquest is gearing up for the launch of its Yulan DLC, currently slated to release on PC at some point in June 2026.
Songs of Conquest’s Yulan DLC introduces a brand new playable Chinese-inspired faction, the game’s third since leaving early access, while allowing us to explore the eponymous realm “shaped by the rivalries of its three great houses: Li, Sheng, and Xuan.”
Songs of Conquest Yulan DLC
When Songs of Conquest’s Yulan DLC launches, we can expect to control eight new units with multiple upgrade paths.
They include conscripts – who act as basic infantry –, grenadiers – who throw clay bombs from afar while improving our army’s morale – as well as the dragon-like Tian and the seekers, described as “scholars of Essence who risk transformation into fearsome Transcendents.”
The DLC introduces us to the new faction through a fresh Tale – a trio of story-focused maps – but also includes five new conquest maps and a new biome “that consists of forests, vast plains, ancient ruins, and lurking dangers.”
The first in a series of monthly developer diaries is now live, shedding more light on how the team behind the game approached its latest DLC.
One interesting tidbit reveals that the Yulan faction evolved from the Dynasty of Roses faction concept the team had during the title’s earlier stages of development.
“Yulan will have several upgrade options for some of their troops,” the developer explains. “Each House has its own Essence focus, giving you the option to choose which Essence you want to lean into depending on your playstyle.
“Will you focus on one Essence, or will you diversify as you conquer more settlements and mix things up for that tactic you have planned? Li stands for Order, Sheng follows Creation, and Xuan focuses on Arcana.”
Songs of Conquest’s Yulan DLC is expected to launch on PC at some point in June 2026. If it sounds like something that’s right up your alley, you can follow and wishlist it on Steam.
