Reykjavik, Iceland has a thing for space games, and the MMORTS Starborne hit beta back in April and already the developers Solid Clouds have now created a new game mode. Dead Zone is designed to pick up the pace for lightning fast games that don’t last the usual ten weeks of the main server cycles.
Starborne is one of those niche games appealing to strategy fans who love the politics of galactic scale conflicts, who thrive best working with others, and who don’t get bent out of shape by the inevitable betrayal as alliances sour and friends turn to enemies. With that said, the ability to play with thousands of others in a game world built and destroyed so organically looks promising.
The new Dead Zone game mode aims to take only a 4 hour session, or a nice afternoon. This game mode will be previewed this weekend - June 27th & 28th - in a tournament that will net the victors a chance to contribute to Starborne lore.
