Subnautica 2’s inclusion of a multiplayer mode is a telltale sign shopwing that developer Unknown World Entertainment is serious about making the sequel the biggest game in the series. Since we can finally have our pals tagging along on our aquatic adventures, chances are that you may be wondering if crossplay might be included at launch.
Whether it’s splitting tasks to progress faster or simply having someone to lessen the amount of underwater spooks, Subnautica 2 cross-platform support would make it easier to join friends and strangers online without worrying about whether we own the game on PC or console.
Subnautica 2 Crossplay
The sequel will put plenty of obstacles in our way to begin with, so it’s certainly great to learn that Subnautica 2 crossplay will be available as soon as the game enters early access in 2025.

The developer provided confirmation in a Q&A from June 2025, when it revealed that Subnautica 2 cross-platform support stretches across PC and Xbox when the game arrives in early access.
PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch versions won’t drop on the same day, but the sequel will launch on other platforms “when the time is right,” according to the devs.
Thus, it’s very much possible that the feature will grow to include the remaining platforms as soon as that happens, although the developer hasn’t directly approached this particular subject until now.
This covers what we know so far about Subnautica 2 crossplay and whether or not cross-platform support is available at launch.
You can learn more about the sequel by following the link at the top of this article, which includes an admission from the developer that multiplayer may not allow for quite the same feelings of isolation and terror as the first two games in the series.
