Winter is coming, thus we’re entering the perfect season for cozy and chill games we can just peacefully play while wrapped in a blanket. Tailside: Cozy Cafe Sim is targeting that exact type of player and now has a launch date to share with those following its development.
The game from Coffee Beans Dev, which unsurprisingly has the player run a café full of animal villagers that come and go, has been designed with “no time pressure” as part of the design and zero stressful objectives. Instead, its loop tries to keep things simple and let players follow their own rhythm.
This might sound very familiar, but actually, there aren’t many ‘cozy games’ which actually drop the productivity-oriented loops with targets to hit in spite of all the freedom they provide, so that alone makes Tailside a new challenger in the space to watch out for. As confirmed in the video, the release date is January 21, 2026. That is, if last-minute delays don’t happen. We’re hoping for a clean release, as “progress without pressure” and brewing lots of digital coffee for many friendly visitors will surely be what thousands of gamers look for during the early weeks of 2026.
Other key features include the ability to customize the entire café as well as all the characters that come in. On top of the in-game systems and unlockables, Tailside will support modding and totally user-made characters, so that’s a welcome shocker.
At the time of writing, Tailside: Cozy Cafe Sim has cruised past 40,000 Steam wishlists, so it’s got a lot of momentum going into 2026 for sure. No console versions have been announced.
