SFB Games, the developers of indie horror hit Crow Country, have continued work on detective mystery game sequel The Mermaid Mask, and will release it this year.
The follow-up to the highly rated Apple Arcade game Tangle Tower, The Mermaid Mask, is the latest in SFB’s Detective Grimoire series, which began life as a flash game on Newgrounds nineteen years ago.
Work on this game had been ongoing for a long time, but was temporarily put on hold when Crow Country proved to be a surprise success for the developers. Now with that out of the way, SFB returns its focus to the eccentric world of Detective Grimoire and his sardonic sidekick, Sally.
The Mermaid Mask is a Murky Undersea Mystery
The story of The Mermaid Mask takes place on the world’s strangest submarine, the Mortuga. Its captain has been murdered, and it’s up to the dynamic duo to discover the secrets behind the captain’s death and the submarine itself.
The voice cast isn’t fully announced, but Edwyn Tiong (Loco Motive, Harold Halibut, Unavowed) and Amber Lee Connors (Jujustsu Kaizen, Demon Slayer, Dandadan, The Outer Worlds 2) return to voice Grimoire and Sally.
The Mermaid Mask is due to release in Summer 2026 on PC and consoles, with exact console formats yet to be confirmed. An updated demo will be available before Steam Next Fest, which begins tomorrow, February 12, 2026.
