The Outer Worlds is one of our most anticipated games, as it's a Fallout-style sci-fi RPG from the developers of Fallout: New Vegas, but other than a vague 2019 date at the announcement we no real clue as to when it's coming out. Now, however, we may at last know The Outer Worlds release date.
The supposed release date puts The Outer Worlds down for a release in August, before the big holiday rush, which sounds realistic to us - and was found through a leak on Steam, so may be legit.
The Outer Worlds release date leak came from Steam itself, as a date of August 6 2019 was accidentally added to the game's Steam page over the weekend. It's since been deleted, but was tracked by SteamDB.
August 6th certainly sounds like a likely release date for a game such as The Outer Worlds, which for all its pedigree is a new IP of course - so a release before the holiday season would do it good. Furthermore, Obsidian have since been bought by Microsoft, so presumably don't want their star new developer working on a game for a rival publisher (Take-Two/Private Division) for too long.
Of course it could just be a temporary release date that's being internally aimed for, which wasn't supposed to go out. Alternatively, there could also be an Outer Worlds release date announcement coming soon, and this leak may have spoiled the surprise. Either way, we're looking forward to the game, and August 6 sounds not far off the mark.
