Developer Gun Interactive has announced The Texas Chain Saw Massacre won’t be getting further content updates, balance patches, or fixes. The game’s now “fully realized” and will transition towards peer-to-peer matchmaking.
The online survival horror game, which expanded upon the world and characters of the Texas Chain Saw Massacre movies, has enjoyed a decent amount of success since it was released in summer 2023, but it appears it was never meant to be a long ride for the studio.
“We feel proud of the game we’ve made and we’re happy that we’re at a point where we feel The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has reached its full potential. From the very beginning, we’ve always had a clear and concise vision for this game… With that being said, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will not be receiving any further future content or support. This means that there will be no more DLC, balance updates, or bug fixes, after our upcoming May patch. You can still expect a few more patches in the future in order to transition towards peer-to-peer matchmaking. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will still be playable and is NOT being delisted from store fronts,” said the team in a press release.
The team also admits its vision for the asymmetrical multiplayer horror genre “may not be for everyone,” but appreciates all the fan support it’s received since summer 2023 and through the game’s “natural creative end.” As for what’s next, it sounds like we should be hearing about the devs’ following project sooner rather than later.
