Publisher Sega and developer Creative Assembly today announced that Total War: Warhammer 3’s Tides of Torment DLC has suffered a second delay, which now sees it releasing on December 4, 2025, more than a year and a half since its predecessor, Thrones of Decay, went live.
The developer aims to use the additional time “to deepen the level of quality planned for the accompanying Game Update 7.0, and ensuring that Tides of Torment benefits from this focus.”
Total War: Warhammer 3 Tides of Torment DLC Gets Second Delay
The announcement trailer for Total War: Warhammer III’s Tides of Torment DLC will be shared later this evening. Then, starting on November 6, we’ll finally get proper looks at gameplay featuring the three legendary lords it introduces.
Tides of Torment’s new release date occurs on the same day when Total War’s 25th Anniversary Showcase will air. Meant to unveil what’s next for the series in both the near and distant future, it comes at a time when community sentiment isn’t exactly positive.
Recently, broken AI for several of Warhammer III’s factions resulted in a review bombing campaign, with Creative Assembly scrambling to release a hotfix that is now live.
The developer acknowledged that further issues persist and it intends to be more proactive about fixing them in the future.
“We’re sorry that the game entered this state. We recognised the issue, but we didn’t appropriately prioritise it and on initial assessment had planned to include the fix as part of Update 7.0,” reads the post linked above.
“What have we changed to reduce the chance of this happening in the future? We have reclassified issues of this nature as a Showstopper, Severity A, which means any similar future problems are blockers to a full release and will always require us to respond with urgent Hotfix measures.”
Whether or not the release of Warhammer III’s Tides of Torment DLC will manage to win players back, much like Thrones of Decay did after a not-so-ideal period for the grand strategy game, remains to be seen.
