Independent Polish developer Paradark Studio is partnering with 505 Games to publish its narrative-driven FPS ExeKiller.
The agreement sees 505 Games publish the retro-futuristic fusion of cyberpunk and the Wild West on PC via Steam.
Set in a dystopian alternate-reality world, ExeKiller is an FPS action-adventure hybrid with a multi-choice story. The game’s story sees a decimated humanity struggling to cope with the effects of a massive catastrophe that destroyed the Earth, turning it into a scorched desert. Think of a post-apocalyptic Western in terms of aesthetic.
ExeKiller Fuses Cyberpunk With the Wild West
The player takes on the role of Denzel Fenix, the eponymous Exekiller – a bounty hunter in the service of Helion, the ubiquitous corporation headquartered in a massive structure towering over the ruins of New York.
Over the course of the game, Denzel discovers the truth about himself, and this revelation puts him in the sights of several powerful factions. From this point, a dangerous and difficult game of survival begins. And it is only up to the player to decide how Exekiller plays out this battle.
The game’s world is a semi-open environment with a central hub. There are smaller locations in the world with long stretches of desert between them, and those gaps are peppered with dangerous weather and unexpected enemy encounters.
The gameplay is primarily designed around the principle of “choice”. While completing quests, the player will never be limited to one path or solution for every problem encountered. The player’s decisions will clearly affect NPCs’ attitudes, dialogue, and possible endings, making each playthrough unique.
It sounds pretty ambitious, and clearly, 505 Games sees something in that ambition. We’ll have to wait and see how it turns out, as there’s no release date at present.
